Jane Grimshaw – National Coordinator for the Christian Dance Fellowship of Britain
Jane has loved to dance from a young age. Having learnt to dance in a side chapel at church during worship times, she felt the call from God to worship him with all of her being. She has been a member of the Christian Dance Fellowship of Britain for more than 30 years. In October 2024, she was appointed as National Coordinator with a new leadership structure in which each trustee has a specific area of responsibility; Creativity and vision, Prayer and Pastoral care, Governance, Marketing and strategy. Jane and the new team will focus on bringing about the new things that the Lord is calling the fellowship to step into. Jane has attended several ICDF conferences, including York and St Andrews in Britain, Malaysia, Ghana, India and Aotearoa New Zealand in 2025.

 

The Christian Dance Fellowship of Britain (CDF Britain) started in 1990 and is part of the broader International Christian Dance Fellowship, which fosters links between national dance fellowships worldwide.

We are a network connecting dance enthusiasts who share the Christian faith and aim to be a place of connection and meeting for people who are seeking to explore, understand, and develop their relationship between dance and faith.
We understand that dance can be enjoyed on many levels; expressing spiritual worship, healing and release or as a moving art form that has its part to play in the construction of culture. We do our best to encourage and support dancers of all abilities and across all forms and genres, through prayer and fellowship, by sharing practice in workshops and community performances and by contextualising practice through biblical teaching.

Our gatherings allow us to celebrate all that our God is doing through the art form of dance. When we meet, we are a community, who together enjoy embodied prayer and worship, and are inspired, strengthened and encouraged by the Holy Spirit and each other.

Throughout the year and across the regions of Great Britain, Christian dancers gather for workshops to teach one another dance techniques and be inspired by our faith. Each year, one region hosts our National Conference, offering the opportunity to come together to celebrate all that God is doing across the country with dance and movement; and to be strengthened and encouraged by one another and the Holy Spirit.

The membership of CDF Britain includes people from professional to novice dancers with a wide variety of backgrounds and dance styles – some favourites being Messianic dance, and worship flags and ribbons/banners raised in praise to the Lord. For many Christians, dance and movement is an expression of God’s glory and can also be used in prayer, intercession, healing and prophetic interpretations.
