PS MOIRA TOWNSEND

My love affair with Christian Dance started when I met Liesl Townsend in the 1980s. We’ve been sisters-in-law and sisters-in-Christ ever since. My role in the Christian Dance Fellowship extends beyond dance, at which I must admit I happen to be borderline to useless. Thankfully, by virtue of my African roots, I do have rhythm – but that’s where it ends! I love the Lord madly and, like David, I will become even more undignified for Him.

My ministry is inner healing and one of my passions is to see people so free that they will be undignified, even in dance. To this end, I simply love seeing the synergy between inner healing and dance movement. The reality is that we will have hurting dancers show up for sessions and while our primary function is not to counsel, my heart is to see every group engage in some form of dance movement therapy that ushers in the presence of the Holy Spirit, so that He can do the healing.

My other passion is prayer. I often reflect on Cornelius in the book of Acts, whose name came up as a memorial offering before God for his faithful prayers.

From January 2010 to November 2016, I served as the Associate Pastor of The Open Door AOG in Port Elizabeth. So my happy place is to be a Servant. I now have a Bachelors’ Degree in Christian Counselling and an Honors Degree in Ministry. My desire is to keep doing the will of the Father and to hear these words when I get to heaven: Well done, good and faithful servant!
