A dance of prayer for International Dance Day 2020. This piece was the ICDF Foundation’s gift of encouragement to dancers worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic. The work reflects the spiritual journey of a young dancer from insecurity and introspection to the comfort and confidence of faith in God. This is a dance to encourage youth to hold onto faith during the uncertain times of this pandemic!
Celine Urquhart is currently a dancer with the Royal Swedish Ballet and previously a student with the John Cranko Schule associated with the Stuttgart Ballet Company, Germany.
The Foundation commissioned a film of Celine dancing in the oldest church in Sydney. The Church on the Hill is of historical importance in Sydney. The third iteration of this church, rebuilt in 1948 – 56, the one standing now, was designed by Edmund Blackett, a convict architect in the Victorian Gothic style. It provides the backdrop to a dancers journey of faith.

DANCE ‘A for Alignment’ is the first in a series of dance workshops commissioned by the International Christian Dance Fellowship Foundation (ICDFF). Each workshop explores a movement concept which invites the integration of body, mind, soul, spirit, through learning short dance phrases which culminate in a guided dance. The first workshop explores dynamic and neutral alignment and how the relationship of the skeleton with line of gravity and base of support facilitates freedom of movement and reduces risk of injury. The dance phrases have been developed in response to biblical scripture, which will be referenced during the class as dancers move and pray together. Verbal instructions are provided in English.
DANCE ‘B for Breath’ is the second in a series of dance workshops commissioned by the International Christian Dance Fellowship Foundation (ICDFF). Each workshop explores a movement concept which invites the integration of body, mind, soul, spirit, through learning short dance phrases which culminate in a guided dance. The second workshop explores why the use of breath and correct breathing is important for dancing. The dance phrases have been developed in response to biblical scripture, which will be referenced during the class as dancers move and pray together. Verbal instructions are provided in English.
DANCE ‘C for Control’ is the third in a series of dance workshops commissioned by the International Christian Dance Fellowship Foundation (ICDFF). Each workshop explores a movement concept which invites the integration of body, mind, soul, spirit, through learning short dance phrases which culminate in a guided dance.
